Even in these modern times, Puerto Vallarta keeps the charm and beauty of its roots and traditions. This is why it has become the friendliest city in the world. Of course, Puerto Vallarta is a beautiful destination surrounded by everlasting rich green vegetation and an enigmatic blue ocean, teaming with a vast variety of plants and animals.

Puerto Vallarta occupies a very important place for the “Eco-tourist” with outstanding activities; from scuba diving around schools of colorful fish in the reefs, to parasailing high above the Pacific Ocean, there are lots of sea, air and land activities especially designed for you.

Puerto Vallarta is a safe city and we like to keep it that way. Please, stay in visitor areas. These are where you will always see lots of people. Just like anywhere in the world, if you are unfamiliar with the location, let us guide you to the fun and the food. Walking is one of the best ways to enjoy our city. This will allow you to really see Puerto Vallarta in depth, seeing all of its intricacies and details, generally missed by motorized transportation.

This guide will take you through Puerto Vallarta in ways that will let you truly say you got to know Puerto Vallarta on a single trip.

The Malecon, Downtown Boardwalk
If you are going downtown, we recommend asking your driver to drop you off at the “Plaza Principal” the main plaza. This is an excellent point to start your downtown adventure. Again, walking around is the best way to see all the main plaza has to offer. Please take advantage of the map we have provided in the center of this guide. In the Malecón, mainly you’ll find restaurants, innovative jewelry stores, bars and numerous boutiques. Stroll along side streets nearby the Malecon to see clothing and shoe stores, galleries and much, much more. This is where you will find the most interesting spots in Puerto Vallarta life.

The Romantic Zone
The Romantic Zone is situated just south of Rio Cuale in the “OLD TOWN”. This area is a lovely place to venture through. Its cobblestone streets, great variety of cafés, restaurants and entertainment value with dazzle you and will show you a whole different Puerto Vallarta lifestyle.

This is where you’ll find Los Muertos Beach (“La Playa de Los Muertos”), one of the most traditional beaches visited by our welcomed guests. This is where time seems to have stopped for decades. The oldest hotels and buildings in Puerto Vallarta are here, specimens of past years’ architecture to be enjoyed.

Marina Vallarta
Is a residential district and a very lovely strip of hotels in Puerto Vallarta with a golf course and its own boardwalk surrounding the yacht slips. “Plaza Marina” and “Plaza Neptuno” are two shopping malls conveniently located at the Marina Vallarta’s accesses. Please use the map located at the center of this guide to orientate yourself within this zone.

North Area Of Puerto Vallarta
Nuevo Vallarta
is a beautiful modern residential and hotel area located fifteen minutes north of Puerto Vallarta.
There are three golf courses as well as several stores and entertainment establishments.
There are several villages just north of the Banderas Bay. Each Village has its own colorful culture and customs with hotels, bed-and-breakfasts and restaurants.
El Anclote and Punta de Mita have some of the best hotels offering great views and wonderful service.

South Area Of Puerto Vallarta
This area has many of the best natural and unforgettable places of the bay, we talk about Caletas, Yelapa, Quimixto and Las Animas, with beaches that can be accessed just thru the sea. The south of the Banderas bay offers the best ecotourist activities, where you can ride on horseback, on a bike or to take a Canopy tour to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the region.
